Nestled in the Ponderosa pine-covered Bearlodge Mountains and ringed with red sandstone hills, the scenic Hulett area is a sportsman's paradise populated with whitetail deer, mule deer, antelope and wild turkey. Hulett is only nine miles from Devils Tower, our nation’s first national monument, and hosts one of the best regional rodeos during the second weekend in June.
Devils Tower
The nation’s first national monument looms prominently over the Belle Fourche River. This imposing formation is a stump-shaped cluster of rock columns 1,000 feet across the bottom. For centuries, Devils Tower played an important role in the legend and lore of Native Americans. This historic monument can be viewed from The Golf Club.
Deadwood
Just 70 short miles from the Club you can experience where the Wild West was born and still thrives. Deadwood lives on in the stories of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Seth Bullock and their haunting legends. Set your watch back a century and take a road trip to Deadwood, SD.
Tatanka
While visiting Deadwood, be sure to see Tatanka located one mile north of Deadwood on U.S. Highway 85. Tatanka preserves Native American life at the height of Buffalo Culture in the mid-19th century with an amazing centerpiece – a larger-than-life bronze sculpture featuring 14 bison being pursued by three Native Americans.
Sturgis Rally
Each August, hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists journey to the Mecca of the motorcycling world: Sturgis, SD, located just 75 miles from the Club. See it all on historic Main Street, where astride their iron horses, bikers promenade in an unforgettable annual pilgrimage. Wednesday is the famous 'Ham and Jam' day where Bikers flock to our very own Hulett, WY, and the population grows from 400 to 14,000.
Mount Rushmore
Sculptor Gutzon Borglum looked at the knobby face of Mount Rushmore in 1927 and envisioned a uniquely American monument. His colossal sculpture, a tribute to four national icons, was finished in 1941 and is now one of the most famous man-made landmarks ever – Mount Rushmore. Millions have since traveled to Mount Rushmore to celebrate freedom.
Spearfish Canyon
Fifty miles from the Club framed in Ponderosa and Spruce Pine trees, Spearfish Canyon is etched with the footprints of history. Trapper Hugh Glass, Lakota leader Black Elk, conservationist John Muir, Calamity Jane, President Teddy Roosevelt and architect Frank Lloyd Wright all drew inspiration from this site.
Badlands National Park
Located in southwestern South Dakota and 150 miles from the Club, Badlands National Park spans 244,000 acres of colorful spires and pinnacles, massive buttes and deep gorges rising from the largest protected mixed grass prairie in the United States. The forces of nature created a unique landscape here and lent a strange beauty to this desolate land.
Custer State Park
Within 120 miles of the Club are the gates to Custer State Park. Located in the Black Hills, Custer State Park encompasses 71,000 acres of spectacular terrain and abundant wildlife. The park boasts scenic drives like the Needles Highway (SD 87), which twists and turns past towering rock formations and through narrow tunnels. View the Needles Eye, a granite spire with a slit only three to four feet wide but reaches nearly 40 feet in the air. Scale the 7,242-foot Harney Peak or enjoy mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, fishing, chuckwagon suppers and jeep rides that let you run with the bison.
